DeColores Adoptions International is accredited by the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Welfare to facilitate adoptions from Nepal.

Nepal is small country that is located between India and China.  Nepal is a multi-cultural, multi-linguistic and multi religious country. For a relatively small country, Nepal has a diverse landscape, ranging from the humid Terai plains in the south to the mountainous Himalayas in the north, which makes it a major tourist destination.

Nepal is knowns for the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest (29,035 ft) which is located on the border with Tibet.  Seven other of the world's ten highest mountains are located in Nepal.

In May of 2008, Nepal legally abolished the monarchy and declared the country a repulic, ending 239 years of royal rule in the Himalayan nation.  In August of 2008, the first Prime Minister was elected to lead the country's transition from a monarchy to a republic.

The following information describes the highlights and requirements of our adoptions program in Nepal.

Families who have children of both genders are ineligible to adopt from Nepal at this time.

  • Referrals ussually come about 4-10 months after submitting the dossier.
  • Sibling groups are sometimes available.
  • Adoptive parents only travel one time to Nepal.
  • Immunizations are not required for Nepali travel, but please check with your personal physician.
  • Nepal has a detailed list of document requirements and specific home study requirements.
  • Re-adoption after arriving in the U.S. is strongly encouraged or may be required according to the visa that the U.S. Embassy in Nepal grants the adopted children.

After the first two are completed you will be required to submit personal reports to Decolores Adoptions International every 6 months until the child is 16. These reports will then be sent to the Nepali ministry as required by Nepali law.
